While the injury is not considered serious, deGrom is placed on the IL.
The Mets said in a press release on Monday:
The results of the MRI done with RHP Jacob deGrom last night were free of problems. However, the Mets intend to put deGrom back on the injured list tomorrow, retrospectively May 10, and will announce a move to do so at that time.
DeGrom, the left the start on Sunday against the Diamondbacks at Citi FIeld before the sixth inning, having felt uncomfortable throwing his warm-up fields, he can return after just missing one start.
The Mets departed May 20th, when deGrom is eligible to return for the first time, meaning his potential first start could be May 21st against the Marlins at Citi Field.
The Mets have days off this Monday and Thursday, which means they only need four starters on their next round.
